Congress Senior MPs fuming at Chiranjeevi

Congress Senior MPs fuming at Chiranjeevi

The Congress Senior MPs were unhappy with the reports of High Command would be offering Union Cabinet Berth to Chiranjeevi, who merged PRP with the 100 plus year-old party.

"If Chiru takes oath as Cabinet Minister, We will resign as Congress MPs," said some Senior Congress MPs.

"Congress is offering posts to the leaders whoever comes forward to join it from the other parties. Dasari, Purandeswari, Jaipal Reddy and Renuka Chowdary were the best examples. The latest one to join this list is Chiranjeevi. All these developments would send wrong signals. It was because of Chiru, Congress lost many seats in 2009 Assembly elections," said a Telangana Congress MP.

"Chiru merged PRP with Congress 8 months back. How can he be offered Union Cabinet Berth in such a short span of time. We have no objection, if he was offered a ministry in State cabinet," opined Andhra Congress MP.

According to the reports in Media, Chiranjeevi might take oath as Union Cabinet Minister on December 18th.

Union Cabinet Berth aspirants - Kavuri Sambasiva Rao, Rayapati Sambasiva Rao, Ananta Venkat Rami Reddy, Sai Prathap, Neduru Malli Janardhan Reddy (Andhra). V Hanumantha Rao, Nandi Yellaiah, Sarve Satyanarayana, Anjan Kumar Yadav, Madhu Yashki (Telangana).

CPI State Secretary Narayana opined that Praja Rajyam Party would have benefited, if it had not been merged with Congress.

"In view of the present political crisis, Praja Rajyam Party would have benefited. But Chiranjeevi didn't have that patience to enjoy the fruits," said Narayana.

The CPI Leader also said that he never expected Chiranjeevi would disappear so quickly. "After getting 18% votes & 70 lakh people support with his charishma and hard work, Chiru suddenly disappeared from the political arena by merging his party with the Congress.  He would have been a king with the PRP, but now he has become a servant of ruling Congress," he opined.

Notably, Narayana (CPI) showed keen interest in alliance with Chiru's PRP before the Assenbly elections 2009. However, things didn't fall in place with Raghavulu (CPM State Secretary) joining hands with Chandrababu which later resulted in formation of the Maha Kutami.
